  3.     Various tests may be employed when investigating thyroid disease. The tests fall into three main groups:
  4. ΓÇó Measurement of the levels of thyroid hormones (either directly or indirectly).
  5. ΓÇó Assessment of thyroid function (by radioiodine uptake).
  6. ΓÇó Assessment of the thyroid-pituitary axis.
